My faces are eating each other! It's a little creepy, sure. But, watch out for a series of different portraits or more face morphing. This is all done in film by the way. I've decided to make a techniques page TBA.

I never stick to one idea and develop it completely. As my friend says, "why fix something that isn't broken". A lot of my work are good idea and done well, but just not quite there. But, I like doing new things, so I wander off to try something new. I've always thought that mastering more techniques are a better way of working. Recently, I've been reconsidering. As, I really don't have a solid body of work. I just don't like showing the same stuff over and over. I like new things. But, I'm being forced (ok, maybe not forced..) to continue with my current project. I like my newest project, I just want to do something new. I think this is a good practice for me though. I've developing the project more, it'll be good. I hope. Otherwise, look out for something crazy new in a couple of weeks! ]]><![CDATA[New Work]]>Sat, 17 Oct 2009 00:27:52 -0800http://www.bridgetho.com/1/post/2009/10/new-work.htmlI'm so glad I got through the dry days so quickly. The ball started rolling and I aint stopping! I think it was the fact that I felt stuck or restricted with an assignment. But, the assignment was best thing that happened to me. We were assigned to compose a self-portrait without having ourself in the physical frame. I don't normally work with portraits and it was great to push my ideas and work to incorporate portraits into my style of work. 

The images came out really well. I'm very pleased with the results. I'm liking this direction of working I'm heading. In previous projects, I had a technique or style of working and found a concept to support it. I'm finally starting with a concept and use techniques to enhance it. It's difficult, I'm really into process. But, I feel like I'm actually making progress with my work. I had one of the best compliments (inadvertently) from my professor.

]]><![CDATA[RIP Nikon FM2]]>Tue, 13 Oct 2009 00:04:41 -0800http://www.bridgetho.com/1/post/2009/10/rip-nikon-fm2.htmlAll the crazy shit I do to my film ultimately lead to the demise of my beloved camera. Sad. I don't think soaking my film in salt water was worth sacrificing the camera I inherited from my dad. Well, it was a combination of unfortunate events, but the wet film led to the jammed rewinder. Which forced me to manually rewind my film. And in my fumble to quickly rewind the film, I smashed the fragile shutter.

Now I feel weird and kind of lost without a SLR. I mean, I mainly use my toy cameras to shoot anyways, but a SLR will always give you reliable photographs. The shop basically told me to buy a new body, since it'd cost just as much (if not more) to fix. And I can't really afford to fork up $200 for a new body right now. So, I'm looking into other options. Here's one of them: the Black Slim Devil. 35mm wide lens with cool vignetting.

]]><![CDATA[Inspiration]]>Sun, 04 Oct 2009 01:17:03 -0800http://www.bridgetho.com/1/post/2009/10/inspiration.htmlI think I want to start blogging. I'm never very active in the online community. I have this weird irrational fear that people I don't know will find out all my secrets online. But, I need a space to write about my art, inspirations, ideas, anything and all things creative. So, this is what my blog will be about, we'll see how this goes.  

Anyways, my professor was talking about how new art students are exploding with excitement about their work and how older students sort of get faded with as they continue. I've always had too many ideas for my own good, my work scattered among all the things I've tried. I'm not sure if it's because I just came from Europe or that the school year had just started, but I'm sadly lacking inspiration lately. 

So, in an effort to rejuvenate my excitement, I've been looking and researching a lot. I used to spend endless hours doing so, but lately it seems like a chore. Maybe I'm just tired. I really hope I get pass this drought soon.
